my fave crochet pattern book + the year of the sweater vest is here
Alright, crafty people. We’re already halfway through January . Are y’all making anything new?
I’m still chugging away at belated Christmas gifts (lol).
This week, I’m featuring my favorite crochet pattern book and a new-to-me knitwear designer.
Enjoy!
crochet: crochet crush by molla mills
my current wip from crochet crush by molla mills
This recommendation is a little different because it’s an entire pattern book. Crochet Crush by Molla Mills is one of the best crochet pattern books I’ve ever purchased. Hands down.
I came across Crochet Crush during a trip to Fancy Tiger Crafts in Denver. I immediately fell in love and knew that I had to bring this gem home with me.
Molla Mills’ work is incredibly cute and modern. Crochet Crush gives crocheters the opportunity to recreate Molla’s designs in their own homes. From floral rugs to wavy tapestry crochet throws, this book has it all.
You can snag a copy for yourself via Bookshop*, or you can purchase a digital version via Laine Publishing.
knit: eggcellent vest by petrichor knitwear
A friend put this amazing pattern on my radar, so here I am recommending it to you all!
This Eggcellent Vest knitting pattern* by Petrichor Knitwear features fried eggs on the front and a cute checkered pattern on the back.
Fair warning: some Etsy reviews say that the pattern is a little hard to follow if you’re a beginner. I’d say this pattern is geared more toward expert knitters.
I think 2024 is the Year of the Sweater Vest™ because I keep running into these adorable patterns. I think I’m going to have to make at least one, right?
what i’m watching: emma in the moment
I don’t care what anyone says. I love low-stakes gossip and drama. I spend hours of my life reading reddit snark pages and going down tiktok rabbit holes to find the juiciest, silliest pieces of gossip. Say what you will about me. I don’t care.
That’s why I love emma in the moment. They post deep dives into some of the crafting world’s juiciest, most dramatic gossip. Most crafters and fiber artists who are even vaguely online know that our fellow crocheters, knitters, etc, are W-I-L-D.
Emma’s videos are extremely detailed, well-researched, and (most importantly) respectful. They discuss some of crafting’s most dramatic moments with kindness, rationality, and a refreshingly reasonable approach.
They recently made a two-part deep dive into the history of Ravelry. I highly recommend their channel if you’re looking for something to watch while you crochet or knit in the evenings!
