Crochet Craft Club No.7 | 1.27.24
We're talking viral crochet patterns + runway frogging.
I missed my self-imposed deadline and didn’t get this thing sent out on Friday. You know what? I’m okay with being a day late and a pattern short.
Here’s what’s on my crafty radar this week.
My little website has a free crochet leaf pattern that, for whatever reason, has received consistent engagement over the years. I pinned it on Pinterest about five years ago, and it now has a life of its own.
I have always wondered how people use this pattern. How many people have a need for crochet leaves in their life?!
I recently got an answer to my eternal question. Kathleen of @madebykym_crafts reached out to me about her Sierra Plant product going viral. She used the free version of the crochet leaf pattern to create this super-cute coaster set!
She asked if it was okay to tag me in any future IG posts. Of course, I said yes! I don’t mind when people use my pattern to create and sell a new product. As long as there is proper credit and no one is stealing my pattern to sell it as their own, everything is chill. 🙂 The crafting community is all about sharing knowledge and resources, imo.
Kathleen used two free patterns to create the Sierra Plant coaster set. You can make your own if you’re so inclined!

TikTok influenced me to get the crochet version of this shirt from redmutha* on Etsy. I have no regrets.
Frogging: Paris Fashion Week Edition
I LOVE it when I spy knitwear and crochet on the runway. Knitwear recently had a gorgeous viral moment during Paris Fashion Week thanks to KidSuper’s Fall/Winter 2023 String Theory collection.
Model/internet person Jashlem (I am old idk who this is) closed out the show in a two-piece knit outfit. The knitwear slowly unraveled as the model traveled down the runway, revealing a gorgeous white suit underneath.
This final piece of the KidSuper show struck a chord with knitters and crocheters everywhere. Who among us hasn’t completely frogged a project when it’s close to being done? Which one of us has NEVER hated a project the moment we finished it?
Like, I really do feel that dramatic when I frog a project. It’s really that serious. KidSuper gets us.
I really enjoy the artistry of the whole piece. According to designer Colm Dillane, the frogged sweater stunt was extremely hard to pull off. Their test runs were failing as close as an hour before the show!
