Cute + magical creatures ✨🔮

Hi everyone! It’s been a while (since June 2025, to be exact). Um, wow! I have quite a few new subscribers here. Welcome to Crochet Craft Club! If you are a new subscriber and want to get a vibe for what I’m about, you can check out previous newsletters here.

Today, it’s all about magical, cute creatures. We’re talking cozy fall energy with a dash of whimsy, maybe some nostalgia. Reading the news on any given day is quite fraught with anxiety and general embarrassment, so why not lean into making something light-hearted and cute with your own two hands?

Also, wtf y’all Etsy is FLOODED with AI crochet listings. I’ve bitched about it before, and I’ll bitch about it again. These AI listing photos are getting so good that I can’t tell the difference at first glance. Hopefully the patterns in this newsletter are real? 🤷‍♀️💀

Jumbo Wizard Frog by Clover Crochet

This jumbo wizard frog IS SO CUTE. I’m obsessed with him. It appears that Clover Crochet originally wrote a smaller version, which took off in popularity and prompted them to make this amazing, squishy jumbo version. CUTE.

This pattern is reminiscent of the Jellycat grumpy frog, but more affordable and fun because, well, you get to make it! Also, he’s a wizard with a magical cape, so.

My Dearest Neighbor 3-in-1 Crochet Pattern by Peme Plushies

If you’re a Studio Ghibli fan like myself, you know My Neighbor Totoro. It’s one of Miyazaki’s most famous films. The titular character is so squish-shaped that becoming a crochet plushie was inevitable.

This 3-in-1 crochet pattern by Peme Plushies includes instructions for Big Totoro, Medium Totoro, and Little Totoro. The product description mentions that there are video tutorials included with purchase, so this could be a fun project for determined beginners and experienced crocheters alike.

Frog & Toad Plus Clothes Knitting Pattern by Dot Pebbles Knits

Oh my god, SHUT UP with this pattern. You can make your own knit frog and/or toad, plus several adorable, whimsical outfits with this pattern bundle by Dot Pebbles Knits. Everything about this is 100% whimsy. You can see the entire photoshoot when you click on the listing.

I’m under the impression that this pattern in particular includes the frog, toad, overalls, and sweater, but check out the rest of their Etsy to see what other pattern variations they have.

“Fox & Kitty” Crochet Bundle by Snuggle Beans Crochet

Growing up, Eevee was my all-time fave Pokémon. Something about her and all of her evolutions were so ✨ glamorous (except Sylveon, idk something about her reminded me of the circus she was not my vibe EVER). Anyway, if you were/are also a fan of Umbreon and Espeon, this pattern bundle is for you.

You can make your own “fox & kitty” plushies (copyright—who is Eevee?) with this bundle series by Snuggle Beans Crochet. Perfect for kids and kids-at-heart.

Current Obsession: Halloween Nightlights

I LOVE Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday and my favorite decorating season. While I have come around to horror as an adult, I lean more into the cozy/cute aspect of Halloween and celebrating the changing of the seasons.

I’m not gonna lie—the front of my house is looking really fucking cozy rn. I have pumpkin paper lanterns, a pile of pumpkins, and fresh marigolds on my front steps. Then, I thought to myself: “How can I spruce up my interior decor for the most important holiday of the year?” The answer: Halloween nightlights.

LOOK AT HIM

I love them. I got this ceramic ghost + pumpkin from Kohls and this vintage-looking Halloween tree. It’s on clearance via Walmart right now which is so rude because it wasn’t even stocked by Walmart when I was shopping for nightlights, so I got mine on eBay. 🎃

Happy making! Hope you all have a wonderfully cozy autumn! 🍂🧶
